FinOptik is a niche AI / Cloud Economics and FinOps implementation practice founded by FinOps fundamentals co-creators.

Our mission is to maximize the value our clients realize from the AI via implementation of best-in-class FinOps practices.

What we are

Founding-level FinOps expertise, available for hire. We helped create the global FinOps discipline alongside the FinOps Foundation, working at Cloudability with JR Storment, co-authored the Google Cloud FinOps operating model, and built 20 FinOps practices at XL Enterprise Level. FinOptik is that expertise, applied to your organization's AI and cloud financial management mandate.

We focus solely on the people and process work: financial operating models, governance frameworks, and accountability structures that make technology investment decisions faster and more defensible.

We work inside your organization alongside your finance, cloud, and engineering teams. When the engagement ends, your organization owns the practice.

Built for larger organizations spending $5M or more annually on cloud, with distributed teams, real AI mandates, and stakeholders ready to build.

What we’re not

Not a technology vendor, ISV, or cloud reseller. We have no financial incentive tied to your cloud spend.

Not technical practitioners repurposed as FinOps consultants. FinOptik comes from finance first, and that is the reason CFOs trust the output.

Not a body shop or staff augmentation option. We are a small, senior practice doing a small number of engagements at a time.

Not focused on cost optimization as the only FinOps driver. The goal is financial confidence and investment velocity.

Who we work with

FinOptik takes a small number of engagements at a time. This is a quality decision, not a capacity constraint.

We are the right fit when three things are true: cloud and AI spend is material, typically $5M or more annually; the mandate is real, meaning a CFO, CIO, or Board is accountable for financial discipline around AI and cloud; and the organization is ready to build, not just evaluate.

We are not the right fit if what is needed is a tool recommendation, a maturity scorecard, or a large team of junior resources managed at arm's length.
